Introduction
The Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) is developing an operational seasonal forecasting service, based on data from several state-of-the-art seasonal prediction
systems: ECMWF, the Met Office, Météo-France, DWD (Deutscher Wetterdienst) and CMCC (Centro Euro-Mediterraneo sui Cambiamenti Climatici).
The data from these providers are valuable assets which need to be properly structured and managed to obtain maximum benefit.
Without a data standard, it is very likely that there will be differences in the data files produced by the various providers, both in structure and content (e.g. variables, file
formats, etc).
However, existing standards are not a perfect fit to these data, especially for netCDF files.
